Hi there,

if you landed here, then you probably already know that this is meant to be the travel blog of Thomas and Olivia until end of January 2011. A travel that will take us to 4 different continents! TA TAA!!

What else, what else? Well, for the moment let’s keep this “about” section short and mysterious to strangers eyes, if you agree.  Maybe later we will try to mutually describe ourselves on this page. Which could be really fun. And maybe keep updating this post on how we mutually describe ourselves after 1 month, 2 months, 5 months travelling together. Which could become even more fun… But for now, we will mysteriously remain Thomas and Olivia.

We will really (really, REALLY) try to update our blog with new posts very often and even try to make it good-looking and interesting. This way, we hope to share many nice moments with you. But we may also submit horrible experiences, in case we need your emotional support 😉

Thomas, Olivia

In the last few months, we increasingly realised how our day to day life was dominated by running, appointments, performance, etc. There was little time to see, hear, smell the beautiful things around us. And we were not sure to know anymore how to separate the important from the not important.

The beautiful things around us: only if we look for them by purpose, like Mario in this film excerpt, we see them and realise the treasures there are just in front of our nose. Mario (played by the great Massimo Troisi) is an almost illiterate postman on a fishermen island in the south of Italy, in the 1950’s. In this scene, he is collecting sounds of his island to send them over to his friend Pablo Neruda, the Chilean poet, who has left the island.

During the next months we want to slow down and strengthen our ability to see the little beautiful things around us, to learn to enjoy moments and to define ourselves through other things than our professional lives and accomplishments. It will be interesting. Like relearning a language you did once learn, but forgot.

    Hi Olivia and Thomas,
I’m sure you are having a great trip.
And, Thomas, I think you are right that Thilo is on the Phils now. It seems there is a ‘Tell’s Rest. in Makati’!?
    Have a good time.
    Best wishes,
    Thanh and Hans

Hola Olivia! Hallo Thomas(freut mich :-))!

Finally I bookmarked this page in my browser and can follow regularly your looooooong trip…

I hope you are not going to send us any single horrible experience asking for emotional support… If so, just before sending it, think that the rest of you friends continue with “running, appointments, performance, etc.” 🙂

Buen viaje y saludos desde Barcelona !!!
